Small: 16cm(Top) x 19cm(Base) x 9cm(height) x 5cm(depth)
Large: 18cm(Top) x 21cm(Base) x 11cm(height) x 6cm(depth)
Boro is a Japanese word that when translated simply means rag. Historically the word has come to mean patched clothing, bags, bedding including many household items.
A utilitarian technique to keep your articles useful and warm by adding patches and stitches.
We have included two pattern sizes. Large and medium. The requirement list below shows the requirements needed to make a large boro inspired purse and a medium sized purse using a feature fabric. These of course could be swapped around.
Requirements:
For a large Boro purse:
35cm x 35cm muslin sarashi base fabric
30cm fabric for lining yarn dyed make a great lining see also printed fabrics for a groovy option
Whisperweft (lightweight iron on interfacing).
20cm zipper which will be shortened
Scrap fabrics or 1 or 2 BeBe Bold boro pack
Sashiko or crochet thread by Olympus Thread, sashiko needle by Olympus or Tulip, leather sashiko thimble, hera marker
General sewing supplies
For a medium sized purse (if using feature fabric only):
30cm feature fabric that you can pick from Sarasa, Takumi,
30cm fabric for lining
Whisperweft (lightweight iron on interfacing).
