Japanese tsumugi cotton fabrics are of exceptional quality and their distinctive yet subtle textures give them versatile function. Tsumugi are piece-dyed shot cotton with the warp thread one colour and the weft thread always black. Love this cotton. I have used the elegant aubergine colour in quilts and a lovely summer dress which I made from a Japanese pattern. It washes well and is a dream to sew.
